Beginner Level Classes

Family Dog Level One - NEW CLASS!!


This basic dog obedience class covers all the commands your dog or puppy needs to know in order to be a well-behaved family dog: Walking on a loose leash, heel, sit, stay, down, wait, and come when called are all covered in class. Dogs are taught to get along with other dogs and greet strangers without jumping.  This class is geared toward pet dogs, including dogs with behavioral issues whether they are just ornery and out of control, or have aggressive tendencies towards other dogs or people.


  Due to COVID, we are limiting class size to six (6) dogs and only two family members may attend per dog.  Dogs MUST be preregistered and prepayment is required via Venmo or Google Pay (no refunds unless cancellation is at least three days prior to the start of the first class).  Masks are required for all participants and trainers for the safety of all involved.  Proper social distancing will be observed. 

To register, please email Sami at gentlepersuasions@live.com and put Level 1 Registration as the subject.  Include in the email your name, your dog's name, breed, and age, and a phone number to call or text.  Payment must be made via Venmo (Sami-Mann-2) or Google Pay (Wanyama.Ranch@gmail.com) and please include your dog's name as well as "level 1 registration" in the notes.  Contact Sami with any questions.

  • Class is open to dogs 4 and one half months of age and older. Class is 7 weeks long and meets in Fort Collins.
  • Cost is $175
  • Each class meets for one hour per week
  • Location:  Library Park, Fort Collins (Corner of Oak and Mathews)
  • Class Start Date and Time: Saturday, September 12th at 9:30am.  DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG TO THE FIRST CLASS SESSION!

AKC CGC Training/Therapy Dog Level One

This 9 week long beginning/intermediate dog training class teaches the basic commands every working dog should know. Sit, stay, down, wait at doors, don't jump on people, leave it, behaving around other dogs, and walking on a loose lead are all covered in class.  This class is ideal for anyone wanting to take their dog on to bigger and better things such as Therapy or Service Dog work.  Pet dogs are also welcome and encouraged to attend this class.

Included in the class is preparation and testing for the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen certificate (AKC CGC), a title and certification given dogs who show good manners and training in social situations.

  • Class is open to dogs that are current on proper inoculations and trustworthy around people and other dogs.  If your dog has behavioral issues please look into our Family Dog courses.
  • Cost is $220
  • Each class meets for one hour per week
  • Location:  Library Park (NW corner of Oak & Mathews), Ft Collins
  • Class Start Date and Time: Thursday, May 30th at 6pm


Please note:  This class DOES NOT certify your dog as a therapy dog.  We do provide the environments, situations and training needed to determine which dogs might be suitable, and enjoy, therapy dog work.  For those that show a bright future as a therapy dog, we recommend continuing on with Therapy Dog Level 2.


Advanced Level Classes

Family Dog Level Two


This 7 week long program takes your training partnership further. This weekly class is fun, informative, and productive. We continue each dog's education striving for off-lead control.

Due to COVID, we are limiting class size to six (6) dogs and only two family members may attend per dog.  Dogs MUST be preregistered and prepayment is required via Venmo or Google Pay (no refunds unless cancellation is at least three days prior to the start of the first class).  Masks are required for all participants and trainers for the safety of all involved.  Proper social distancing will be observed.

AKC CGCA Training/Therapy Dog Level Two

This 5 week long class takes the graduates of our beginning class and puts them in more difficult and challenging situations in order to see which dogs really have what it takes to be working Therapy Dogs. By invitation only and dogs must be graduates of our beginning Therapy Dog Class.  This course is 5 weeks long with the last class being the Advanced Canine Good Citizenship Test (CGCA). Meets in selected areas of Fort Collins.  By the end of this class, dogs should be ready to test for Therapy Dog organizations such as Pet Partners, Delta Society or Therapy Dogs, Inc, or be brilliant ambassadors of therapy dogs at the local nursing home or rehab facility.

Dogs at Work

This fun and exciting 8 week long class exposes dogs to a variety of canine sports and activities.  In the class we cover the basics of competitive obedience, rally, agility, sheep herding, scent work, therapy work, and tricks.  Only open to graduates of Sami's Family Dog and CGC class or by direct invitation.

Classes will take place at Library Park in Ft. Collins and at Sami's ranch, as needed.

  • Cost is $185
  • Location: First class will meet at Library Park in Ft. Collins (NW corner of Oak and Mathews)
  • Start Date and Time: TBD Some classes will have different meeting times if we are at the ranch.
 

Family Dog Level 3- NEW CLASS!

Fine tune the skills you learned in Level 2 in this 7 week advanced course.


This class introduces several advanced obedience commands as well as body awareness exercises. Commands taught include moving stand stays, backing up, pivot, sidepass, emergency downs, and long distance/duration/high distraction sit and down stays. Dogs must be graduates of CGC Level 1 or Family Dog Level 1 and Family Dog Level 2 to participate.



Cost: $175.00

Location: Old Town Square, Fort Collins

Off Leash Training


Geared towards gaining complete control in highly distracting environments, this course teaches the owner how to properly use an e-collar in the most positive, safe manner.
Collars MUST be purchased before first class, and must be Dogtra or E-Collar Technologies brand. NO Sportdog brand collars!
Dogs MUST be graduates of CGC Level 1, or Family Dog Level 1 and 2.
This is a 5 week class, meeting for 1 hour each week.

Cost: $150
Location: Will vary. Begins at Library Park
